About the Marley F2QL16240

This is a quartz lamp heating element, part number F2-QL-16-240, used in Marley, Qmark and Berko electric infrared (radiant) heaters. It is rated 1600 watts at 240 volts and is listed for heaters with a 24-inch enclosure. It is sold as a single element.

Marley offers the same element size in metal sheath, quartz tube and quartz lamp versions and in several voltages, so match the element type and the voltage on your heater's nameplate before ordering. Check your heater model against the compatible-models list on this page.

Marley's instructions warn against touching the quartz with bare hands, because salt in perspiration can deteriorate it.

Installation Tips

Disconnect all power to the heater at the main service panel first. Marley's element instructions call for removing the terminal cover at each end, loosening the #10 hex nut, wrapping the element lead one full turn around the terminal stud and retightening, leaving a little slack in the lead. Do not touch the quartz with bare hands, because salt from perspiration can deteriorate it. Trim off all excess lead wire, and confirm the supply voltage matches the heater nameplate before restoring power.

I ordered three (3) as they were inexpensive and . . . my neighbor has the same model! She was thrilled, and put a new blade on her X-acto knife (a furniture maker) and carefully removed the baffle, as I did, then dropped the replacement in. Cheers all around! So, No. 3 is the neighborhood spare. I used a Magill forceps (I’m a medical writer and interviewer) in the past to remove foreign objects that fell in, while the neighbor always had a pair of long needle nose pliers handy. We both agreed that it was “about time” we had a removable/replaceable baffle. (Yes, yes, we always always unplugged the unit, even flipped the breaker, before diving in.)

I was slightly disappointed when I ordered the right part for my discontinued Craftsman shop vac. I ordered a replacement blower wheel that actually fits a Rigid.
