About the Marley SWH2027FC

The SWH2027FC is a recessed fan-forced electric wall heater in Marley's SWH Architectural Series, built for 277V circuits. At 277V it is rated 2000 watts (6826 BTU/hr), and removing a red jumper converts it to 1000 watts. The manual also lists a 240V rating of 1500 watts.

It has upper and lower heating elements and a built-in thermostat that cycles only the elements. A remote thermostat should not be used. A fan delay keeps the fan running after shutoff to clear residual heat.

Safety features include a manual-reset over-temperature control with a red alarm light and a one-time backup thermal fuse. It recesses into a 2x4 or larger stud wall with the included back box, and optional frames allow surface or semi-recessed mounting.

Installation Tips

Turn off power at the breaker before working. Use standard 60°C building wire. The manual's minimum clearances are 4 in from the floor, 4-1/2 in from an adjacent wall and 12 in from the ceiling, with combustibles kept at least 3 feet from the front. The grille must be in place during operation. Do not bypass the fan delay.

I ordered three (3) as they were inexpensive and . . . my neighbor has the same model! She was thrilled, and put a new blade on her X-acto knife (a furniture maker) and carefully removed the baffle, as I did, then dropped the replacement in. Cheers all around! So, No. 3 is the neighborhood spare. I used a Magill forceps (I’m a medical writer and interviewer) in the past to remove foreign objects that fell in, while the neighbor always had a pair of long needle nose pliers handy. We both agreed that it was “about time” we had a removable/replaceable baffle. (Yes, yes, we always always unplugged the unit, even flipped the breaker, before diving in.)

I was slightly disappointed when I ordered the right part for my discontinued Craftsman shop vac. I ordered a replacement blower wheel that actually fits a Rigid. The problem was the one sent was only a 1/4" between the impeller and my original wheel was 3/8". Good news is the Representative found the correct wheel. Back in business.
