About the Marley 5814-0003-002

The 5814-0003-002 is a step-down control transformer for 480V Marley, Qmark and Berko heaters. It takes the 480V supply and converts it to 24V for the heater's control circuit. That circuit powers parts such as the thermostat and the 24V relay coils.

When this transformer fails, the heater usually goes completely dead: the thermostat calls for heat but nothing switches on, even though full voltage is reaching the unit. A tripped or open fuse on the control circuit, or a short in the 24V wiring, can look similar, so check those as well.

Installation Tips

Turn off power at the breaker and verify with a meter that the 480V supply is dead before opening the control compartment. Label the primary and secondary leads on the old transformer, then connect the new one the same way: the 480V side goes to line power and the 24V side to the control circuit. Mount it securely before restoring power.
