About the Marley F4MS20480

This is a metal sheath heating element, part number F4-MS-20-480, used in Marley, Qmark and Berko electric infrared (radiant) heaters. It is rated 2000 watts at 480 volts and is listed for heaters with a 46-inch enclosure. It is sold as a single element.

Marley offers the same element size in metal sheath, quartz tube and quartz lamp versions and in several voltages, so match the element type and the voltage on your heater's nameplate before ordering. Check your heater model against the compatible-models list on this page.

Installation Tips

Disconnect all power to the heater at the main service panel before removing or installing elements. Marley's element instructions call for removing the terminal covers, loosening the #10 hex nut on the terminal stud and fastening the element end to the stud; on longer fixtures an insulator slides over the element and a support bracket is used. Trim off all excess lead wire, since stray leads touching the enclosure can create a shock or fire hazard. Confirm the supply voltage matches the heater nameplate before turning power back on.

I ordered three (3) as they were inexpensive and . . . my neighbor has the same model! She was thrilled, and put a new blade on her X-acto knife (a furniture maker) and carefully removed the baffle, as I did, then dropped the replacement in. Cheers all around! So, No. 3 is the neighborhood spare. I used a Magill forceps (I’m a medical writer and interviewer) in the past to remove foreign objects that fell in, while the neighbor always had a pair of long needle nose pliers handy. We both agreed that it was “about time” we had a removable/replaceable baffle. (Yes, yes, we always always unplugged the unit, even flipped the breaker, before diving in.)

I was slightly disappointed when I ordered the right part for my discontinued Craftsman shop vac. I ordered a replacement blower wheel that actually fits a Rigid. The problem was the one sent was only a 1/4" between the impeller and my original wheel was 3/8". Good news is the Representative found the correct wheel. Back in business.
