About the Marley J508B
The Marley J508B is a 500-watt, 208-volt J Series (Model B) institutional convector: a wall-mounted electric heater that works on the convection principle, circulating room air through a finned heating element.
A perforated front cover hooks over a rear panel that is bolted to the wall, then locks down with tamper-proof screws; the top access cover and the disconnect-switch cover are also held with tamper-proof screws. The wiring includes a built-in disconnect switch, a thermostat and a high-limit control.
The front cover has a baked enamel finish that can be repainted with good-quality household enamel. Plan to mount it on a vertical wall at least 6 inches above the floor, never in a recess, and keep it out of hazardous, corrosive, marine, greenhouse and chemical-storage areas.
Installation Tips
Turn off power at the breaker before installing or servicing. Mount the heater on a vertical wall with its length horizontal and the bottom at least 6 inches (152 mm) above the floor; check the included instructions for side clearance. Fasten the rear panel through its 11/32-inch holes with bolts and anchors you supply, and bring the supply wiring in through the 1-3/32-inch hole in the rear panel.
Use wire insulated for at least 75°C (type RH, THW or equivalent) sized to code, connect the ground to the green lead, and confirm the supply voltage matches the nameplate before turning power on. Discard the plain front-cover screws it ships with and secure the cover with the 1/4-20 x 1-inch tamper-proof screws.

Can this heater be painted?
Yes, the front cover can be repainted with good-quality household enamel, and no primer is needed. Don't use rubber-base paint, and never paint the heating element.
Can it be installed in a wall recess?
No. Recessing restricts airflow, raises temperatures and can keep the thermostat from working properly, so mount it flat on a vertical wall.

My Insinkerator instant hot water dispenser arrived on time, and as described. I had found for a few dollars less on Ebay but had less confidence in the supplier. She was thrilled, and put a new blade on her X-acto knife (a furniture maker) and carefully removed the baffle, as I did, then dropped the replacement in. Cheers all around! So, No. 3 is the neighborhood spare.
I used a Magill forceps (I’m a medical writer and interviewer) in the past to remove foreign objects that fell in, while the neighbor always had a pair of long needle nose pliers handy. We both agreed that it was “about time” we had a removable/replaceable baffle. (Yes, yes, we always always unplugged the unit, even flipped the breaker, before diving in.)

I was slightly disappointed when I ordered the right part for my discontinued Craftsman shop vac. I ordered a replacement blower wheel that actually fits a Rigid. The problem was the one sent was only a 1/4" between the impeller and my original wheel was 3/8". Good news is the Representative found the correct wheel. Back in business. I however, had to pay for return shipping.
